This week is the last week of our Semester 1 Integrated Arts (A)
Special Course. In groups, we created a short (20 minute) presentation to share
about our Creative Arts journey during our workshop, Sydney Story Factory and
School Drama experience. Every group’s presentation in my class gave me insight
into their journey, what they had learnt and what was important to them. My
group presented some scenarios from what we learnt from our first week of the
course (that teachers shouldn't label students as creative or not creative),
tutorials (The Shape Game), Sydney Story Factory (The Corpse Activity and
creating an Inventor) and School Drama (teacher in role). We also wrote and I
sang a song about how we felt before and after the course. I thought it was
really interesting to see how our people in my class presented what they had
learnt. I think it would be a great idea to do in the classroom, to have
students present and share their journey through a poem, role-play, song, play
or video after they have completed a unit of work. It would be a great way to
end a topic/unit and consolidate students’ learning.
